From a signal.
To something real.
I’m an electrical engineering student at NJIT. I’ve spent two summers as an intern engineer at HNTB working on intelligent transportation systems, and I build embedded projects on my own.
Work
HNTB
Intern Engineer, ITS & Traffic · Parsippany, NJ · Summers 2025 and 2026
Design, field verification and documentation for electrical, communications and control systems on transportation projects.
Over-height vehicle alerts
Tunnel over-height alerts on a phone in about two seconds, not just the booth panel.
Detection troubleshooting
Helping find and fix a fault-indication problem at the Lincoln Tunnel.
Fiber and comms plans
Temporary fiber-optic plans for the Newark Bay Bridge, plus rack elevations and hub diagrams.
Standards retrieval
About 450 drawings and spec sections, searchable with plain-English questions.
Projects
Personal and team projects
Aircraft approach display
An ESP32 and an LCD that show which plane is on approach to Newark.
Plant care platform
One portable soil probe for many plants, a Flask app, and AI-assisted care guidance.
Smart home IR bridge
Old IR-controlled lights and climate equipment, controlled from Apple HomeKit.
Smart parking garage
A class prototype that points drivers to the nearest open space and shows it live online.
About
I grew up in Lebanon, where you noticed electricity because you couldn’t always count on it. That made me curious about how electrical systems work and how to make them more dependable.
At NJIT, that curiosity turned into projects where hardware, software and the physical world meet. Two summers at HNTB showed me how much engineering depends on field conditions, accurate documentation, communication and careful troubleshooting, and that a design has to work within the system that already exists. I want to understand systems like these and help build ones people can depend on.
